DETROIT –For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Chevrolet again supported the American Cancer Society by contributing to the cause $350 for every lap run under caution, with a maximum of $50,000, during three NASCAR Cup Series races last October.
To also help raise awareness, a specially-themed pink “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 served as the pace car at the NASCAR Cup Series races at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama on Oct. 3, Texas Motor Speedway on Oct. 17, and Martinsville Speedway in Virginia on Oct. 31. Chevrolet also hosted a limited number of breast cancer survivors and guests at Talladega and Texas, offering them a fun-filled afternoon at the track.
“We are very proud to partner with the American Cancer Society and carry the ACS logo on the pace car during October races,” said Sean Finegan, director, Chevrolet Motorsports Marketing and Activation. “The responses we receive at the tracks are always so positive, and we’re very humbled that we’re able to participate in this cause.”
[2021] was the 11th consecutive year Chevrolet has partnered with the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” initiative through dealership walks, national test drive promotions and national service rebate promotions. Chevrolet also donated $5 toward the fight against breast cancer [in October] with every post on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok using the hashtag #WeDriveFor, up to $110,000.

TRACK AND STREET COME CLOSER TOGETHER IN THE ALL-NEW CHEVROLET NASCAR NEXT GEN CAMARO ZL1 RACE CAR
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Chevrolet’s new look on the racetrack will more closely connect to its cars in the showroom when Chevy campaigns its Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race car, starting this season in the NASCAR Cup Series. The new look and features are a result of a collaborative effort by Chevrolet, the series and other original equipment manufacturers for race cars competing at the Cup level to look and perform more like their production counterparts.
The Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race car’s new lower greenhouse, shortened deck lid and widened track width contribute to a coupe-like appearance. A fully symmetrical body design makes the race car look even more like the production Camaro.
“Chevrolet engineers and designers worked alongside our race teams to develop this race car while staying true to the styling essence of the Camaro ZL1,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance and Motorsports. “This cooperation will benefit Chevrolet both on the track and the street.”
Both the Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race car and production Camaro ZL1 offer hood air extractors that enhance track performance.
“The Next Gen Camaro has a much stronger link to the production Camaro ZL1 in terms of styling integration, improved proportions and relevant technologies,” said Eric Warren, Chevrolet director of NASCAR Programs. “From an engineering standpoint, this is a seismic shift. It’s a completely new car that brings with it a lot of opportunity from a technical standpoint.”
Other changes to the 2022 Next Gen race car include:
Upgraded specs to match modern passenger vehicle technology, including independent rear suspension – like production Camaros – and rack and pinion steering.
An increase in wheel size from 15 to 18 inches. The larger diameter wheels allow for larger brakes for improved track performance. Wheels will be made from forged aluminum, like the wheels on the production Camaro ZL1.
A new transaxle that combines the transmission and rear gears into one package.
The bottom of the car will be sealed with an underwing and rear diffuser for enhanced aerodynamics.
A redesigned chassis features new front and rear bumpers with an energy-management system.
Both the front and rear clips bolt on to the center section for easier serviceability and damage repair.
Chevrolet initially introduced the Camaro ZL1 race car to NASCAR Cup competition in 2018. It was replaced by the Camaro ZL1 1LE race car in 2020, which Chase Elliott drove to a Driver’s Championship in the car’s first season.
Chevrolet has campaigned 14 different nameplates in the Cup Series, dating back to 1955, and with 798 victories is the winningest brand in NASCAR Cup Series history. Chevy’s first win was by Fonty Flock at Columbia Speedway in South Carolina in 1955, the same year Chevrolet introduced its famed small-block V-8. Since then, Chevrolet has won 39 Manufacturer Championships, including 13 in a row from 2003-2015, and 32 Driver Championships to lead all manufacturers.
The Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race car will made its points-paying debut at next season’s Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Feb. 20, 2022.

At the beginning of the month, Chevrolet made a big announcement regarding the 2023 Camaro. Much like the legendary C8 Corvette, the 2023 Camaro will sport a mid-engine layout, adding a second mid-engine sports car to the Chevrolet line-up.
So, what's in store for the Camaro's V8 engine? Car Buzz has reported that it is likely Chevrolet will downsize the engine, offering a turbocharged four-cylinder and V6 options. Otherwise, the Camaro would compete against the mid-engine Corvette, in which case you'd be likely to just get the Corvette.
The rumor mill is buzzing that an all-electric Camaro is likely in 2023, making this new mid-engine Chevrolet option a smaller and lighter version compared to the Corvette. It may even offer a manual option, unlike the Corvette.
Several renderings have popped up on the internet, including a video posted by 3D designer and animator, Rostilav Prokop. The configuration is possibly the most believable we've seen. It combines the front end and rear fascia of the 2019 Camaro with the C8 Mid-Engine Corvette.
Ready to jump ship and join the Chevy family? If you happen to own a Mustang, you may qualify for a credit of $3,000 towards a new Camaro purchase. It's part of an incentive to sway muscle car owners to the Chevy side.
In order to qualify, you must be a current owner or lessee of a Ford Mustang for at least 30 days before purchasing a Camaro. Also, the $3,000 discount can only be applied to purchases, not to a lease.
The other details include the offer only being valid towards a 2019 model. You also have to purchase your new whip by the end of October.
The discount is said to be part of an effort to move the Camaro ahead of both the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger, while it currently sits in third place as far as sales go.
It was recently announced that Chevrolet will be unveiling the Shock and Steel Edition for the 2020 Camaro. Available in two colors: the ultra-bright Shock and the more mellow Satin Steel Metallic, the Shock and Steel Edition also boasts carbon flash mirror-caps, 20-inch alloys, a black fuel filler door with carbon insert, and Brembo four-piston calipers in yellow. The interior will don black-suede knee pads, carbon instrument panel molding, and premium mats.
The 2020 Shock and Steel Edition will be available on 2LT and 3LT coupes and convertibles, as well as 2SS trim levels.The 2LT and 3LT trim levels also require the RS package.
