DETROIT – As summer winds down, Chevrolet Racing continues to gear up.

    • Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Camaro ZL1, won the NASCAR Cup Series regular-season championship and is one of eight Team Chevy drivers to qualify for the 2022 Cup Series playoffs. Elliott, who won the series championship in 2020, leads the series with four wins. Fourth-seed Kyle Larson (No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Camaro ZL1) is the defending champion.
    • AJ Allmendinger (No. 16 Kaulig Racing Camaro SS) leads the NASCAR Xfinity Series standings.
    • Three-time champHight (Camaro SS) leads the NHRA Fuion Robert nny Car standings, past champion Brittany Force (Chevrolet) leads the Top Fuel standings, and four-time champion Erica Enders (Camaro SS) leads the Pro Stock standings.
    • Non-Camaro Chevrolet driver Will Power took home the 2022 IndyCar Championship for Chevrolet
    • Non-Camaro Chevrolet drivers Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor (No. 3 Corvette C8.R) lead the Michelin Endurance Cup standings in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

“It’s exciting to see all of these Chevrolet drivers leading their respective series in points as we prepare to finish the season,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet vice president of Performance and Motorsports.

Additionally, Chevrolet currently leads the manufacturer’s standings in NASCAR Cup, NASCAR Xfinity, INDYCAR, NHRA and IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

“We appreciate the hard work of our drivers and teams who have scored valuable manufacturer points through this point of the season,” Campbell said. “We remain focused on working with our drivers and teams as they prepare for the important final portion of the season.”

Chevrolet has won 40 NASCAR Cup Series Manufacturer’s Championships, and 22 Xfinity Series manufacturer’s titles, each more than any other OEM. Since returning to INDYCAR In 2012, Chevy has won six Manufacturer’s Championships. Chevrolet also has won the NHRA Manufacturer’s Cup 26 times to lead all manufacturers.

CHEVROLET COPO CAMARO BRINGS BACK THE BIG BLOCK FOR 2022

CHEVROLET COPO CAMARO BRINGS BACK THE BIG BLOCK FOR 2022

The COPO Camaro returns to the drag strip and its roots with a 572-cubic-inch Big Block V-8

DETROIT – The COPO Camaro returns to the drag strip for 2022 with a newly available 572-cubic-inch engine. The Big Block V-8 channels the spirit of the original 1969 COPO Camaro, a purpose-built drag racer created by dealers using the Central Office Production Order system to equip cars with Chevrolet’s largest V-8.

The COPO 572 uses a cast-iron block with four-bolt main caps, aluminum heads, a forged steel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods and forged aluminum pistons. Pricing for the COPO Camaro with the 572 starts from $105,500 (excluding tax, title, license, and dealer fees).

The 2022 COPO Camaro is also available with LSX-based Small Block engines –

a supercharged 350-cubic-inch V-8 rated by the NHRA at 580 horsepower and a naturally aspirated 427-cubic-inch V-8 with an NHRA-rated 470 hp. All 2022 COPO Camaros use an ATI Racing Products TH400 three-speed automatic transmission.

Engineered for drag racers, the COPO Camaro is sold as a Chevrolet Performance part and cannot be registered for street use. It competes in NHRA Stock and Super Stock eliminators and comes standard with a carbon fiber hood and wheelie bars. Buyers can customize their cars with options such as a trunk-mounted weight box and parachute.

Owning a COPO Camaro places drag racers in rare company – Chevrolet has built fewer than 700 examples since the program restarted in 2012. In past years, interested customers have entered a lottery to win an allotment for one of 69 cars. Chevrolet will not limit production for 2022, and orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Buyers may also participate in a private tour of the COPO Build Facility in Oxford, Michigan, where each car is custom made. The order form for the 2022 Chevrolet COPO Camaro can be found at www.chevrolet.com/performance-parts/copo-camaro.

CHEVROLET CONTINUES ‘MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER’ IN OCTOBER AT TALLADEGA, TEXAS, AND MARTINSVILLE RACES

CHEVROLET CONTINUES ‘MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER’ IN OCTOBER AT TALLADEGA, TEXAS, AND MARTINSVILLE RACES

DETROIT – For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Chevrolet again supported the American Cancer Society by contributing to the cause $350 for every lap run under caution, with a maximum of $50,000, during three NASCAR Cup Series races last October.

To also help raise awareness, a specially-themed pink “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 served as the pace car at the NASCAR Cup Series races at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama on Oct. 3, Texas Motor Speedway on Oct. 17, and Martinsville Speedway in Virginia on Oct. 31. Chevrolet also hosted a limited number of breast cancer survivors and guests at Talladega and Texas, offering them a fun-filled afternoon at the track.

“We are very proud to partner with the American Cancer Society and carry the ACS logo on the pace car during October races,” said Sean Finegan, director, Chevrolet Motorsports Marketing and Activation. “The responses we receive at the tracks are always so positive, and we’re very humbled that we’re able to participate in this cause.”

[2021] was the 11th consecutive year Chevrolet has partnered with the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” initiative through dealership walks, national test drive promotions and national service rebate promotions. Chevrolet also donated $5 toward the fight against breast cancer [in October] with every post on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok using the hashtag #WeDriveFor, up to $110,000.
